I deliver the one-day Personal Licence course in the Redditch area. Just call me, Johnny Walker, on 07970 134 730 and I can explain exactly what you need to do to obtain a Personal Licence without the tears.

My course is well paced and informative about all areas concerning being a Personal Licence holder. This course is about understanding how the law of licensing works and how to stay on the right side of the law.

If you sell alcohol from a licensed premises in Redditch or anywhere else in England and Wales, then you, or a member of your staff, must hold a Personal Licence. This is a legal requirement.

You apply for a Personal Licence to the local licensing authority where you live. This, of course, may not be the same authority where the premises are located.

You do not need to renew an existing Personal Licence, with effect from 1 April 2015.

Notify the licensing authority which originally issued your licence about any changes.

To change your name or address, notify the licensing authority that issued your Personal Licence. If this was Redditch, then you need to complete the appropriate form which you will find on line.

  • Your new name or new address
  • Both the paper part and the card part of your Personal Licence
  • Fee of £10.50.

Please note – if the information on your licence is not up to date, you are committing an offence.

Your Personal Licence is portable throughout England and Wales. This means that you can use your personal licence to be the Designated Premises Supervisor at any premises in England and Wales. However if you do move, you must tell the Licensing Authority that issued your personal licence of your new address.

You are required to declare relevant and foreign offences. If you have one of these offences, the Licensing Authority will consult with the Police who have an opportunity to object to you being granted a Personal Licence.
