I come to your premises and deliver the Highfield one-day Personal Licence course, On a day to suit you. I can also offer either a Saturday or Sunday too. You will be in safe hands. I have a 99% exam pass rate. Also, during the day, we will complete your application forms to gain your Personal Licence from your local licensing authority.
If you have a Personal Licence, you can sell alcohol, under a premises licence. You can also authorise someone else, who does not hold a Personal Licence, to sell alcohol.
You need a Personal Licence if you want to be the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) at your premises. The DPS will normally be the person who has day-to-day responsibility for running the premises.
There may be a number of personal licence holders working at a premises but there can only be one DPS. The DPS must be appointed by the premises licence holder, who may hold both positions. This is quite typical at a pub owned by an individual. If the pub is owned by a brewery, for example, the brewery will usually hold the premises licence and the tenant will be the DPS. Places that sell alcohol need to have both a premises licence and a DPS.
A Personal Licence is granted by the licensing authority of the Council for the area you live in. You can use your personal licence to sell alcohol, or authorise the sale of alcohol, anywhere with a premises licence in England or Wales. Applicants must be over 18
- A Personal Licence must not be have been forfeited in previous 5 years
- Complete the application form
- Complete the disclosure of convictions form
- Two photographs, one of which is endorsed as a true likeness by a solicitor or notary, a person of standing in the community or any individual with a professional qualification
- A licensing qualification. I deliver the Level 2 Highfield award for Personal Licence Holders. It is this certificate that demonstrates that you have attended a recognised course and pass the end of course multi-choice exam.
- Criminal conviction certificate or a criminal record certificate or the results of a subject access search of the police national computer by the National Intelligence Service. Please note the criminal conviction certificate must be no older than one month at the date of application. The current fee for this certificate is £23.00
You don’t need to renew your Personal Licence. It is indefinite, unless the licensing authority or a court makes a decision to revoke the Personal Licence.
