KIDDERMINSTER, STOURBRIDGE, BEWDLEY PERSONAL LICENCE & DPS TRAINING COURSE
The Kidderminster one day Personal Licence course takes place most weeks at a venue in Kidderminster making it most suitable to candidates from Bewdley and Stourbirdge as well as Kidderminster. The venue varies depending on which week the course runs.
A personal licence is required by individuals making or authorising the sale of alcohol. Not every person retailing alcohol at licensed premises needs to hold a personal licence, but every sale or supply of alcohol must be authorised by a personal licence holder.
I teach many individuals the Personal Licence course in the Kidderminster and Bewdley area every year. Many are new to the licensed trade and others have decided to become a Personal Licence holder as they intend to operate their own premises and become the Designated Premises Supervisor.
The Licensing Authority must grant an application for a personal licence if the criteria set down in the Act are satisfied. If you have no relevant criminal convictions and you provide the correct documentation, then your local licensing authority have to issue you with a Personal Licence.
Personal licences are portable from one premises to another. You can apply for a Personal Licence whether or not you have current employment or business interests which needs a licence.
Since 1 April 2015, the requirement to renew a Personal Licence has been abolished. Licences once granted now last as long as they are required. However, if you change your name, address or lose the licence, you will need to apply for a replacement Personal Licence, enclosing the fee of £10.50.
Remember, a Personal Licence authorises the specified person to sell alcohol or to authorise other individuals who do not hold a Personal Licence to sell alcohol, but only when used in association with a premises licence. A Personal Licence is portable between premises.
The granting of a Personal Licence is not dependent on the holder working in licensed premises at the time the application is made. Simply, you do not need to be working on licensed premises to obtain a Personal Licence. In the past, I have personally taught licensing authority officers and police officers this very same Personal Licence course.
By the way, you must apply to the Local Authority where you live, not the one where the premises you work at is situated, unless they are the same authority.
My course covers every aspect of the Highfield syllabus and will prepare each and every candidate thoroughly for the end of course examination.
Many candidates are apprehensive of sitting the examination. Please be assured, I teach this subject nearly every single day, every week, every month and have done so for some 15 years. You will be in safe hands. I do this for a living and your examination result is as important to me as it is to you.
