A Personal Licence allows you to authorise the sale or supply of alcohol in a venue which has a premises licence in Evesham. A Personal Licence alone is not sufficient to authorise the sale of alcohol. A Personal Licence holder may give consent to become a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) for a licensed premises.
A Personal Licence is a licence held by a particular individual to permit that person to authorise the sale of alcohol from premises in Evesham that is suitably licensed for the purposes of selling alcohol by retail. This can be in either a public house, off-licence, nightclub, restaurant, etc
Personal Licences are issued by the local authority where a person lives and since 6 April 2015 has no expiry date. Personal Licence holders can authorise up to 50 temporary event notices in each calendar year.
Before applying for a personal licence a recognised qualification must be achieved. The aim of this is to ensure that Personal Licence holders are aware of licensing law and the wider social responsibilities attached to the sales of alcohol.
You will need to obtain an accredited Personal Licence qualification first. I deliver the Highfield Level II award. This course takes one day and culminates with a multi choice exam. Those who pass will receive a certificate recognised by all licensing authorities in England and Wales. The aim of the qualification is to ensure that Personal Licence holders are aware of the licensing law and the wider social responsibilities attached to the sale of alcohol.
If you have been convicted of a relevant and/or foreign offence the police have a right to object if they consider that granting the application would undermine the crime prevention objective. In the event that the Police do object to your application you will be notified and your local licensing authority must hold a hearing to consider the objection notice.
If you live in the Evesham, Redditch, Stratford upon Avon, Pershore, or anywhere in England or Wales, please call Johnny Walker on 07970 134 730 and I will explain what you need to do to be a Personal Licence holder.
