Passing the Personal Licence Examination. The Truth…….

I’ve been teaching and training individuals in the licenced trade for some 20 odd years. Frankly, it seems like a life time….. I get many enquiries each week from those wishing to attend one of my one-day Personal Licence training course, in Redditch, Gloucester, Malvern, Monmouth, Cardiff, Witney, Hereford, Ross on Wye, Birmingham, Upton on Severn and pretty much everywhere else too.

Most people ask the same question ‘Will I pass the exam?’ The answer is this……..I have a 99% examination pass rate. I cannot guarantee that you will pass, that is impossible to me to predict. I have students that just scrape through with 28 correct question out of 40 (the minimum pass mark) and I also have candidates who get full marks…..WOOOOOOHOOOOOO…….these individuals are called SMARTY PANTS. They are few and far between, but hey.

The examination certificate does NOT show your exam mark. It simply states that you have passed a Government recognised course for Personal Licence holders.

But listen up, the most important part of my one-day course is understanding how the law works and how the pieces of the jigsaw fit together. Anyone can cram for an exam but how many, in reality, truly understand how the law of licensing works? Would you like to pass the exam, or would you like to pass the exam and also understand how the law of licensing works?

Remember, your local licensing authority will expect you to know the rules of selling alcohol. It’s not enough just to point to your certificate. The simple truth is that passing the exam is not the most important part of the day, understanding the law is…………
