Personal licences are required for anyone who wishes to become a Designated Premises Supervisor, also known as a DPS, at a premises. There are a number of responsibilities a DPS has including to authorise the sale of alcohol at their premises. A personal licence also enables you to apply for 50 Temporary Event Notices each year rather than the usual five.

To apply for a personal licence, you will need a certificate to demonstrate that you have successfully passed a Level 2 personal licence training course. I deliver the Highfield one-day personal licence course on a day of your choice. By the way, I come to your premises. The certificate from this course will enable candidates to apply for a personal licence from their local licensing authority. During the training day, we will complete all the forms needed for you to make the application.

Personal licence holders can use their personal licence under any premises licence in England and Wales. Quite simply, a personal licence is portable. Personal licences are now indefinite and do not need to be renewed.
